Worth Every Penny

Review by K. Shane, 2010-07-13

I have been a loyal reader of Mojo for many years. I am a music writer myself, and in my opinion, Mojo offers the very best in music writing today. They deftly blend coverage of the great music of the past with the most current stuff. You can buy it at your local Barnes and Noble, or Borders, but be advised that the current issue in those places is actually a month behind what is on the newsstands in England. Mojo is expensive for sure, but in my opinion it's worth the price. It's not easy to come up with over $100 for a subscription though. I would suggest that Amazon consider offering a quarterly payment option for a subscription at this price.

Great Magazine!!!... Too expensive on Amazon

Review by Ian, 2010-02-21

It's the best music magazine around. Wonderful writing... too many stories about middling English bands, too many "best of" lists, but wonderful writing. And eclectic... Where else would you find a story on the Artic Monkeys next to an article on Blossom Dearie or Freddie King or Middle Eastern or African musicians? Too many Radiohead articles...but wonderful writing. Too expensive here. You can get it cheaper through the Mojo website:Mojo4music(I'm paying about $6.50 an issue on a renewal).Enjoy!!!

The last bastion for music fans...

Review by Linda C. Robertson, 2009-08-27

Mojo is a very special periodical, one that is absolutely appropriate for the often misused word unique.
Yes, it is unique in that Mojo provides readers actual music content, with loads of reviews and in-depth, well-written articles on both newly discovered talent and the well known selections.

I love Mojo because of its wealth of coverage of new bands and groups. I've read about countless new groups that have since become standards in my collection. I couldn't begin to place a value on that kind of content in a music mag. I mean, I found out about the little known Texas group The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroadsin the pages of Mojo, as well as those good ol' Scottish boys Beta Band.

Of course, I have yet to read or see any coverage of (the) Melvins in the pages of Mojo, but I'm sure it's coming. I am just positive that King Buzzo would make an excellent subject for a cover story! Those guitar licks; the lengthy history; the long list of bands influenced by them; and, of course, that hair! What are you waiting for, Mr. Alexander?

So, get your subscription going today, or you'll be wondering why everyone knows about some new and utterly astonishing band and you haven't got a clue as to who they are or what they sound like.

Who needs a subscription when...

Review by Corky, 2008-12-06

You can buy this on the newsstand for the same price. And the best part about the newsstand is that you can pick and choose which month one you want. This saves money since every magazine has a few lame issues that only have a few good articles. you can read those at the store and save eleven dollars. I love the magazine but buying a subscription for it is stupid. The only way a subscription would be good is if you live in a midsized to small town and nobody carries it.
